Detour

Today we went over to see our friends' new house and hang out in their pool. We head back around dinner time to find a police car and tow truck blocking the road we take home. I see some smoke but it looks like it isn't too close to our neighborhood so we make a U-turn to go another way. As we turn onto the street into our subdivision I begin panic mode. The smoke looks like it is practically coming from our back yard and there are several police cars and fire trucks. Luckily, my husband is a bit more calm than I am and observes that the fire is on the other side of the street (still too close for my comfort).

A chemical plant on the other side of the street that our house backs up to was on fire... luckily a fire station went in down that same street a while back so they had things under control by the time we were home.
